Who are stakeholders and why is it important to define them?
Stakeholders play a crucial role in your concertations and finding suitable candidates will add value to your participatory processes.
Adding stakeholders serves 3 key purposes:
- Gathering expertise: Inviting different actors who are directly affected by the issue at hand or deal with it on a regular basis to join the concertation, adds more substance to it, which the other participants will benefit from as well.
- Adding to the variety of opinions: The stakeholders' perspective and views on the topic in question are likely to differ, thus stimulating an informed discussion among the participants.
- Making important community-actors more visible: You choose stakeholders based on their contribution to the development of your community. By giving them more visibility on your platform you both recognise their commitment and highlight their expertise.
It's up to you to internally determine which actors are most likely to contribute new valid perspectives to the concertation and to guide the exchange in a constructive manner.
How do I add stakeholders?
Please note that only community administrators can add stakeholders to the concertation.
- Log in to your Civocracy account.
- Go to the Statistics page of your concertation. Read up here on Statistics and how to access them.
- On the Statistics page, scroll down to the section labelled 'Stakeholders' and fill in the required information. If the person is already registered with Civocracy, their account will be suggested to you when you enter the first letters of their name. If the person does not have a Civocracy account yet, add their name as well as email address. An email will automatically be sent out inviting them to register with Civocracy.
- Once you've entered all the relevant information, click 'add'.
You've successfully added a new stakeholder or invited someone to join as a stakeholder, giving them the chance to contribute their expert knowledge to the concertation!
